Coastal Comedy Journal

Editorial policy

Coastal Comedy Journal aims for accurate, clearly framed writing about coastal humour and the settings, traditions and craft around it. We separate what can be checked from what is interpretation.

Accuracy and sourcing

We check factual statements against relevant material and make the basis of a claim clear where context matters. When a piece discusses a tradition, place or historical detail, we avoid presenting uncertain recollection as established fact. Interpretations of a joke or comic work are described as readings, not as the only possible meaning.

Independence and corrections

Editorial decisions are made for reader value and relevance to the publication's subject. A commercial relationship does not determine our conclusions. If a reader spots an error, they can use the Contact page to identify the piece and the detail in question. We review correction requests and make a clear correction when warranted.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid, gifted or otherwise partner-supported material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Partner links and placements are also identified. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where used, they are labelled accordingly and are not presented as documentary photographs.
